New Slovenia - Christian People's Party (Nova Slovenija - Krščanska ljudska stranka - NSi), or simply New Slovenia (Nova Slovenija), is a center-right political party. It was founded on 4 August 2000 when a large faction deserted the ruling SLS+SKD party, itself created only three months earlier by a merger of the Christian Democrats of Slovenia (Slovenski krščanski demokrati - SKD) and the Slovenian People's Party (SLS).
SKD, founded in 1989, had been a major player in the early 1990s; the country's first democratically-elected PM belonged to it. Its
members were never comfortable in the joint SLS+SKD party, dominated
by the less-conservative SLS, and NSi was
an attempt to recapture an ideological compromise and
earlier success. However, its parliamentary shenanigans during its
brief time in power proved unpopular, and starting with the 2000
elections its fortunes saw a dramatic decline, prefiguring that of its
old enemy, LDS, a few years later; it never recovered the support
the SKD had had before 2000.
In the 2008 parliamentary elections Nsi won only 35,774 votes (out of a million or so cast) for 3.40% of the total and zero seat, after another round of unpleasant pre-electoral acrimony and splittism. On the European level it is a member of the European People's Party.

The party consistently used a vertical, blue flagl, with its acronym near the top and the complete logotype near the bottom. There is no horizontal version; the vertical one is used in contexts that would call for one.
The flag and its elements are prescribed in the party's Statutes, as follows:
Article 2.
The name of the party is "New Slovenia - Christian People's Party". The abbreviated name of the party is "New Slovenia". The acronym for the name of the party is "NSi", with the first and second letter written in capital letters, and the last letter of the acronym written in lowercase.Article 3.
The party has an emblem, flag and seal. The emblem of the party and other symbols of the party, their form and manner of use are prescribed in detail by the party's total graphic identity manual, as adopted by the Executive Board.

The party's table flags are almost always identical to the fullsize ones, but occasionally one with inverted colors can be seen.

The party's youth section Young Slovenia (Mlada Slovenija) uses a wide assortment of flags, apparently at random, featuring either its logo (a cartoony smiling star, like something out of Super Mario World) or its entire logotype, in a variety of arrangements.
